Southport and Formby Quiz League : Quiz Notes

Presentation Evening
The final event of the season was held at Formby Cricket Club on Wednesday 9th April.

The evening kicked off with the semi-finals of the Handicap Cup in which Wings (1) 60 beat E Street Band (10) 39 and Fishermen’s Rest (6) 44 beat MPs (14) 41. Later in the evening Wings beat Fishermen’s Rest 53-42 in the final. For Wings Dag Griffiths scored 17 with 14 points apiece for Tom Farley and Maurice Wright - David Williams with 13 led the reply for ‘the Fish’.

Thirty six players entered the Pairs competition. Of the eighteen pairs Tom Farley (Wings) and Richard Farbon (Quads) topped the written section with 36 points out of a possible 40. Six pairs qualified for the final section. In the final Harry Owen (Fishermen’s Rest) and Steve Redfern (Quads) came through to edge out Ray Oakes (Casablanca) and Adrian Cannell (Quads).

The raffle raised £200 for Willowbrook Hospice in memory of Leo Tobin (ExPats)

The evening concluded with the presentation of the season’s trophies.
