Cup - Quarter Finals
All the matches this week were played on Monday
Fisherman's Rest were at home to Quads who had a 7 point start.
At the halfway stage the teams were level on 24 points each. Both
teams won 2 rounds each in the second half and it ended up 45 each
at the end of 8 rounds. Fishermans Rest took the ninth round
by 5 points to 3 to gain a narrow victory 50-48. All of the home
team were in double figures with John Clarke leading with a good
14, Alan Ascott 13, Neil Macaskill 12 and Harry Owen 11. For the
opposition Richard Farbon led the scoring on 13 and his team mates
Adrian Cannell and Steve Redfern both scored 12. Over the 9 rounds
there were 7 unanswered questions and 25 2 pointers. Mixed Blues
had a 5 point start in their match at home to E Street Band. It
was 22-20 at halftime and Mixed Blues led 30 to 39 going into round
7. In the remaining 2 rounds E Street Band scored 14 points whereas
Mixed Blues scored 1. The final score was 31 to the home side and
43 to the away side. Ed Davies led the scoring for Mixed Blues with
a fine 15. Dave Nickeas scored a very good 17 for E Street Band
and Dave Twigge scored 11. There were 15 unanswered questions and
21 2 pointers. M.P.s had to give Exams a 5 point start in their
match. By half time the home team had established a lead of 2 points
- 22 to 20. They won all the rounds in the second half, and led
41 to 28 going in to the final round which they won 9-1 to give
them a comfortable victory of 50 to 30.Dan Evans scored an impressive
19 for M.P.s. He was supported by team mates Rick Catton who scored
a good 13 and Chris Hodgen on 10. There were 8 unanswered questions
and 19 2 pointers in this game.Ex Pats had a 22 point start away
to Wings, which wasn't quite enough to give them victory as the
first division team by one point 51-50. It was 27-34 at half time
and Ex Pats had a 4 point lead going into the final round, which
the home team won. For Wings Dag Griffiths scored an excellent 22
supported by Keith Mulhearn and Maurice Wright on 12 and 10 respectively.
For Ex Pats Peter Lyth scored 12. There were 9 unanswered questions
and 24 2 pointers scored.
The semi finals and finals along with the pairs competition will
be played on Wednesday 9th April at Formby Cricket Club.
