MQL triumph in both Individual and Team Events

The 2003 British Quiz Championships were held in August as part of the 7th Mind Sports Olympiad. On Saturday 23rd August John Wilson (Castaways - Northern) won the individual championships with Dag Griffiths (Wings - Southport & Formby) in second place. The top four qualifiers after the communal rounds played a MIMIR style final. John finished one point ahead of Dag who in turn finished one point ahead of joint third placed competitors Kevin Ashman and Mark Bytheway. |

On Sunday in the team championships the top two qualifiers after the written round played a match on MQL format to determine the champions. Dag Griffiths (Wings - S&F), Ray Oakes (Condottieri - S&F), Tom Farley (also Wings) and Pat Gibson (Pleiades - Ormskirk) playing under the team name Dataport beat the Milhous Warriors team of Eric Kilby, Geoff Thomas, Mark Bytheway and Kevin Ashman. |
