Ian Wride - Retired teacher and long-serving quiz league player(had more clubs than Jack Nicklaus), starting with the Shakespeare in the 1960s . As a Cumbrian, supports Carlisle United - someone has to. An avid reader, of the situations vacant. Specialities are science, classical music and literature.
Ann Page - Retired history and English teacher. Likes visiting stately homes and ancient monuments (no comment). Ann participates in many sports, from the comfort of her armchair. Lives in the wilds of Burscough and is partial to an unmentionable German wine. Everton supporter. Liable to have a panic attack if asked questions on maths or technology.
Mark Elson - Recently recruited from the Plough for an undisclosed transfer fee (actually half a Guiness). Mark drives a taxi and is another Burscough dweller. After making two appearances for St. Patrick's A, he went to Florida for two weeks to recover.
Tony Gowland - Another long-serving player and, with origins in Geordieland, supports Newcastle United. Specialises in questions on ships, planes and world wars. Swings an elegant shoe on the dance floor.
Stephen Gowland - Our youngest member, Stephen also serves as question master at home matches. Recently graduated from Bristol University and works as a housing manager. Supports Blackburn Rovers and specialises in pop music and films. As Tony's son, Stephen is the third generation of Gowlands to play in our local quiz league, his late grandfather, Tom Gowland, being one of the very early members. Is this a record? Believes Eugene Onegin is a type of alcoholic drink.
Joan Southworth - Our faithful scorer. Cannot (easily) be bribed, but not averse to some creative accounting when we look like losing.
Brian Kimberley - Our supersub. Question master, timer, player: you name it and Brian will do it. Runs a greeting card shop in West Kirkby and is another keen dancer and a snooker enthusiast.
